Juncalito Beach, Loreto
Juncalito Beach is worth the drive south of Loreto. Located next to Puerto Escondido, Playa Juncalito is a sandy beach, with plenty of shoreline.
Playa Juncalito gets busy with the locals on the weekends and holidays. It is completely full during Easter break (Semana Santa). Otherwise during the week you may be the only one here.
Juncalito Beach has a rocky point on its southern end, which is the prime spot. This spot is more protected from the wind and is great for snorkeling. Juncalito Bay is a perfect place to relax in the water. The gentle sloping beach of Juncalito allows you to walk out quite far and still be waist deep in the water.
Depending on the time of year, recent weather and plankton, the water can be super clear. You can see your toes when you are shoulder deep in the water. You can see the tropical reef fish without putting on a snorkel.
The bay is well protected from southern winds, keeping the waters calm. In the winter and spring, the north winds can create some waves, making the beach experience not as enjoyable. If the winds are from the north and greater than 10 mph, than you may want to reconsider going to Juncalito Beach and go another day when the weather is better.
